Debashish Bhattacharya is an internationally acclaimed guitarist and winner of the President of India Medal. He is the inventor of a twenty-four-stringed guitar that has been introduced worldwide as the "Hindustani Slide guitar." His unique style of playing includes synthesizing selected features of Indian veena, sarod, sitar and Arabic qanun. Noted for his classical elegance and traditional sensitivity, he is a very popular performer in India and abroad. Debashish has recorded a number of albums, collaborated with musicians in the west, and composed the title music for the Hollywood movie Life During War Time. Subhasish Bhattacharya (tabla) was trained by several eminent tabla artists. His skill and aesthetics, blended with the quality of his improvising, have made him a popular accompanist who tours extensively in India and abroad.
